  • I am reading this play with a small group of 12 Grade students, and I have read the play a couple of times. I find McCarthy's writing very significant and this little work sets up the parameters of belief and non-belief very well. Also, it really presents a consistent pattern of language and thought that is amazing. Black can not escape his linguistics nor can White so there is a standoff in ideas and a standoff in discourse. I found it to be very powerful as is all his writing.
