I've had the same battery problems that are being reported above after 2 months with each phone. When I took my first Iphone in to the "genius bar," they tried to figure out what I was doing wrong. My habits and use had not changed over the time that I owned it. They finally gave me a new one and now the same thing has happened to the battery. This is unacceptable. The damn thing with all of the AT&T fees and packages is a $500 phone.

Re: iPhone battery problem

Hello, I'm having the same iPhone problem. My charge is stuck in the red even when connected to a computer or charger. I notice your post was 3 weeks ago, did you manage to resolved the problem, and if so, how?

Many thanks

Dave

Re: iPhone battery problem

****Update****

I shut my iPhone down by pushing the top button and the bottom button at the same time - which actually shuts the phone down. Then I charged it overnight and it was fine the next day. I think that makes sense to do after each update, just like on your computer when it asks you to restart after an update.

I am so happy my iPhone is back!

Re: iPhone battery problem

NOOOO...
i had my battery problem,and..no wi-fi, no bluetooth after i updated it to 2.1,
2.1 sux!!!!

Re: iPhone battery problem

I am having the same problem with battery running hard and not holding a charge for long. I actually just started having the problem after the 2.1 update. Perhaps it was coincidence? In any case, it doesn't seem to fix the battery drain problem.

FYI - I've have my iPhone for about 6 weeks, and only 3 days ago started having problems (after the update).

Re: iPhone battery problem

Did anyone install the new update that's supposed fix many bugs including battery life? I have removed all applications and short of a reset, it is pretty much the way it was when I bought it. Took it to the local Apple store and they said to reset it on itunes back to factory settings. If it continues to driain power after that they would replace it.

But I lose all my contacts that way so how do I back up my iphone

Re: iPhone battery problem

I had a similar problem. The battery was going down normally, It got to 10% percent and later the thing went off. Up till now all of this is normal. What I can't figure out is that it doesn't show that it's charging at all. It seems completely dead even when it's connected to the power.

I hope there's nothing fried inside. I hope I can find someone to replace the battery.

Re: iPhone battery problem

Had a similar problem crop up today. iPhone 3G worked all day yesterday, talked about an hour total..no problems. Plugged it in overnight, and this morning it was dead within 3 hours of no calls. Charged it again, and it is already down to flashing red batter indicator. Now i have it powered by usb and I think it is actually going down instead of charging on usb.

Re: iPhone battery problem

I agree it's to do with the upgrade of 2.0. That's when most of the problems started. Garbled voice, battery life down to nothing, email won't send or receive, internet slow. I called ATT and they said to replace the sim card. Went to a local store and replace the sim. The clerk told me he didn't think it had anything to do with it. I charge all night last night, battery indicated is in the red, charge in the car while at work still nothing. By the way my warranty ran out two weeks ago, seems strange.

Re: iPhone battery problem

Yup I've been having the same problem since yesterday...the usage time is same as the stand by time...some app is running in the background and causing the battery to drain...i am waiting and watching to see if this is a recurring problem...if it is maybe i will remove some of the apps i installed in the last few days....but definitely a bug that apple should look into...

Re: iPhone battery problem

10-22-08 - The past two nights I have had my batter drain from 100% to about 25% with no wifi, no bluetooth, no location service, no phone use, no app use. My battery has not been keep a normal charge as of July 11, when I downloaded the recent firmware 2.0. I thought because I downloaded 10+ applications I was draining the battery. I accepted it as I was testing out the different applications. Now that I am a little over downloading applications I have noticed the last two days that my battery will not keep a charge. Yesterday, my phone was fully charged at 8am and by 1pm it was at 20% and I never once touched my phone from 9a-1. Today the same thing, although at 1pm my phone was completely dead and off.

I have been charging with the block and it takes forever for it to charge and gets really warm. I just got done reading all the post on this blog and have plugged my iPhone into my computer with an old USB ipod charger. It has been plugged in for about 20 minutes now and seems to bee charing and not warm at all. Hope this works.

Re: iPhone battery problem

Ok well at least your battery is working for you guys on my iphone that i purchased legally ... my battery logo even when pluged to my pc says i have 100% battery life no matter what i used it for about 4-5 hours and it still said 100% WTF

Re: iPhone battery problem

My problem is that the battery discharges itself even when the phone is off. MY IPHONE IS BACK TO NORMAL AGAIN!!! LOL YEAH,CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?? IT HAD BEEN HAVING THOSE STUPID PROBLEMS FOR THE LAST 10 DAYS ... COULDNT TURN THE PHONE OFF, BATTERY WAS DRAINING OUT SO FAST [OUT IN LIKE 1 DAY]... SO I TRIED EVERYTHING I COULD FIND ON THE INTERNET: RESETED THE PHONE BACK TO THE ORIGINAL [BTW,IM USING AN UNLOCKED ONE] , BLEW OUT DUST IN THE THING [BY MOUTH ,GOD EXHAUSTED] ,CHARGED THE PHONE DIRECTLY AND THROUGH THE PC ALSO..NOTHING SEEMED TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION..SO I GAVE UP... BUT THEN THIS IS HOW "MIRACLE" HAPPENED... SINCE NOTHING ELSE I COULD DO, I DECIDED TO JUS ACCEPT THE HURTFULL FACT AND START CHARGING IT REGULARLY..LIKE WHEN THE BATTERY WAS ABOUT LOWER THEN 50% AND I KNEW I WAS GONNA BE OUT THE WHOLE DAY,I CHARGED IT WHILE I GOT READY [FOR LIKE 45MINS I THINK ,THEREFORE THE BATTERY HAD NEVER GOT TO BE FULL] ... I HAVE DONE THAT THREE TIMES SO FAR, AND DROPPED IT ONCE ACCIDENTLY [NOT SO HARD THOUGH] ...THIS MORNING AT 9:00AM ,MY PHONE WAS ONLY AT ABOUT 35%, SO I CHARGED IT FOR 30MINS... I NOTICED THAT UP UNTIL NOW ,WHICH IS 1:05AM THE NEX DAY AND 16HRS AFTER ,IT'S IS STILL AROUND THAT LEVEL [ LIKE 25-30%] WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUT !! NOT TO MENTION THATI HAD USED IT TO MAKE SOME PHONE CALLS AND LISTEN TO MUSIC DURING THE DAY!! UNBELIEVABLE !! I KNOW IT'S KINDA WIERD RITE? BUT I THINK MAYBE U GUYS SHOULD TRY OUT THOSE STEPS I MADE ,TAKE YOUR CHANCE AND HOPEFULLY, YOUR PHONES WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL AGAIN!! GUD LUCK!^_^
